Hi, We just joined the vintage Airstream family with a 65 Overlander. The PO painted the upper part of the front end cap a deep burgundy color (see photos). We'd like to return it to its original color. What product, color, tools and any special techniques do you recommend? Our first VTT resto/reno was a stick built Aristocrat, and the AS is a brand new world for us.
Thanks for your help!

Hey Karen,
Scuff the surface, oil base stain blocking primer then paint away. I used a good quality latex wall paint. The only problem is that you have to use a small roller (3inch) on the curved surface. Ours was painted in 2008 and looks as good as new.

Hey Karen,
My end caps were fiberglass and I believe that I used the Kilz primer. The overcoat was an interior latex wall paint from Sherwin Williams called Shades of Grey. Looks nice with the charcoal boomerang counter top and dinet.
Another member mentioned that Zolotone makes a paint, much like the original, that can be rolled on.
Pick a color you like!
