I have the good fortune of having only one leak in our 66. Although it is annoying. The curved window over the kitchen sink, is the culprit. I tried ANDYR's fix using silicone and flexing it into the window to seal but it only made the leak a bit smaller.
I appreciate any ideas.
I have added sealant around the edges and under the frame from inside but the water pretty much pours onto the kitchen counter still.

Same problem in my front window although less so when the rock guard is closed. Also the window next to the door.

The fix I used was from Inland RV Andy. It was using silicone, usually a no-no for Airstreams, but it did work on the few Windows I tried it on, just not the kitchen window. Not sure why.
I am looking for an alternate plan, and asked Colin on the VAP..we will see what he says..soon.

Thanks. On a different subject. Can you tell me how the screen door attaches to the main door so that it doesn't flop around when opening and closing the outside door? It appears that there was a snap/strap at one time but I'm not positive.

went over to our Overlander today. Happy to see after a lot of rain over the past few weeks,, no leaks , no drips. Always glad to see that, plus I resealed around the vents and windows not long ago.
The screen door has what is left of this

the roller without the catch. So mine flaps also when the door is open.
I remembered when looking at the door that I have forgotten to order this:

Snap Tie Back
same thing as holds the folding bathroom door to the closet.

Thanks for the poke, now I need to spend a few dollars...LOL
I went ahead and ordered both, 14 bucks well spent...

Alan, did you install your snap tie to the screen door? If so do you by any chance have a picture of how you did it? Just wondering before I go drilling more holes in the door.

Got the snap thing a day before flying out for vacation. ..will put it on after we get back. .
Colin Hyde says the drip rail over the kitchen window will help the leak there. I have one over the front window. .it doesn't leak ....

Drip caps sometimes, will work. BUT, they also tell everyone that your Airstream has had water leaks. The question then becomes "why do you want to broadcast that issue ??"

The fix is very easy. Replace the old gaskets with a updated new style gasket. When done properly, that fix corrects window leaks for at least 20 years or more. And the cost is really peanuts compared to the cost of correcting damages because of window water leaks.

I actually like the look of the drip caps and I have replaced the rubber in the window surround. But as always I thank you for adding to this information.

I too have leaks. Lots of them! The two front window are the worst and the sills fill up with water on my '68 every time it rains. A few windows were replaced by the PO with plexiglass, and of they actually don't leak! I haven't really dug into this issue yet, but I am seriously considering the drip caps. They make perfect sense! But they do take away from the smooth lines of the curved Corning Glass. Has anyone seen pictures of drip caps on a '66-'68 airstream?

Leaky windows on a 68 are easy to fix.

Replace the gaskets, PROPERLY, with the newer style, much better sealing job, with the hollow "D" shaped gasket.

If done correctly, that will destroy the ability to leak.

You know, our 67 had a bad and really pesky leak at the front window. (There are other leaks, too, but not as pesky.) I resealed that thing several times over. And resealed the window cover several times over. And nothing worked.

Until I resealed the segments on the roof above the window. Which stopped the leak in its tracks.

Lynn , Can you elaborate on how you sealed the seams in the segment panels?

1. Remove any old and loose sealant.
2. Use masking tape on either side of seam.
3. Run bead of Vulcum; smoothe into seam with finger.
4. Remove masking tape.

I've used other sealant for this, but find that Vulcum stands up longest to weathering, especially drying and cracking.

Ditto what Lynn said, I don't have the same windows but my window leaks were all actually endcap leaks. I used foil tape to completely seal the window from the outside. When I hosed the endcap it was following the seams down and coming in at the top of the window.

to seal the seams I use an animal syringe. Large plastic, and cheap. I fill it with gutter seal and squeeze into the seams. Then clean with mineral spirits. Taping the seams with blue tape works to keep it extra neat.

I'm in the process of beginning to remove and replace the foam seals on the Corning windows. It would appear that to remove all of the old seals and install the new ones, I will have to remove the glass to be able to get to the very top edge. Is that correct and if so how do you remove them? I can only get to a certain point and then it feels like I'm about to make a big mistake. Any thoughts?
