Most people recommend this site as the best way to determine value. Price vs. Condition - Airstream Values

I took a quick look at your pics and only found some small ones with a big mattress hiding a lot of the interior. Very hard to tell value from small, obscured shots.

A good cleanup and good presentation of nice pics will really help move you from the "as found" '65 Overlander value towards the "average" category.

Good luck,

John

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

So here's the deal... if you consider removing the junk that's in it and taking a few pictures that show the interior "working on it" you can expect to get $1500ish. If you clear it out, take a few decent pictures and there's nothing big wrong with it, think more like $3k. Sounds like pretty good pay for taking out the trash.

If it leaks and has a spongy floor and none of the appliances work and the plumbing leaks, it's not worth the work, you're still looking toward the $1.5k range... it looks like the skin is pretty straight, but the (practical for AZ sun) white paint on the top isn't a plus.

The coach in the photos is earlier than a 1965. The clues to its identity lie in the windows and the entry door.
  • The door-within-a-door was last utilized in the 1964 models so that would make the coach no later than a 1964.
  • The jalousie windows ahead of the entry door are also a feature that was last utilized in 1964.
  • The prominent "eyebrow" above the entry door points to a model earlier than '64 -- likely a 1962 or earlier.
The VIN number will provide positive ID as to model year. Information about the various model years can be found at this link.

Good luck with your sale!

Kevin

The VIN is probably stamped by hand onto the plate underneath "Overlander" underneath the part that says "International Land Yacht" and there are definitely people on here who can tell you what year and in which factory it was manufactured by reading the VIN. I think it may say "Serial No." at that vintage.

Vin number 'should' be on the title. Mine is. My Trade Wind is definitely a '66 but the title says '65 because it was built in Oct. '65.

It appears that the VIN verifies the coach as a 1964. The only clue that threw me initially is the "eyebrow" above the entry door as most of the 1964 models that I have seen have a much less pronounced "eyebrow". My '64 Overlander International Land Yacht was about 200 units behind yours (#426) so the "eyebrow" may have been unique to the earlier production units. You can find the decodeing information at the following link.

Good luck with your sale!

Kevin

P.S.: The interior cabinetry definitely appears to be 1964 Overlander International Land Yacht - - mine has identical cabinet doors and pulls.

It isn't terribly unusual for the year on the title to be in disagreement on Vintage Airstreams. Sometimes, it may be on a coach that was a hold-over from the previous year and was titled as of the year of sale. Other times, it may be confusion when the coach changed hands whether it was through a dealer who was unfamiliar with Airstreams or an individual who may not have had the correct information. When our coaches were new, many states weren't strict title states as they are now so there are often model year discrepancies on the titles to Vintage coaches.
