1961 To 1965 Overlander
Does anyone know what the big changes from the 61 to the 65 are - both good and bad???
Thanks

Pictures are worth a thousand words...
Have you checked out the archives? Also, the features chart may be helpful...
Basically, the first things I think of are:
- Changed from all wood/wood veneer cabinets at the upper locations to vinyl wallcovering faced cabinets at the uppers - '65
- Changed from Zolotone interior walls to vinyl wallcovering (with some Zolotone parts - '65
- Door in a door style screen door started to disappear after '64
I'm sure there's lots more...just the first couple of things I thought of. '65 is kinda a transition year before switching over to the major Corning window changes in '66
Also each year, they got a little heavier, don't we all!

Other Changes...
A '61 probably wasn't clearcoated, and a '65 probably was.
There's a 50/50 chance that a '61 had a leaf spring suspension, but a '65 has the Dura-Torque.
A '61 probably had a dual AC/DC electrical system, and a '65 probably had a converter.
A '61 probably had an air pressurized water system, and a '65 probably had an electric pump.
A '61 had the Bargman 99 ("tiered wedding cake") taillights, and a '65 has tailights that are recessed into the body.

Yes, my '65 is clear-coated. I'd like to know a non-intrusive way to remove that clearcoat so I can polish the aluminum!

Well, not exactly. They're flush mounted, but mounted in these plastic housings that stick out about 2".

Hey! how come there's not a 1965 Overlander forum?

If you do a search for "clearcoat" or "stripper" you should find a number of helpful threads on that subject. There is also a very helpful comparison of products on Insideout's website (post above).
PS--What are you in for there in Vacaville?
