Would you love it or leave it????

My daughter & son-in-law just purchased a 1982 33' Avion. It looked fabulous from the pictures. Outside is clean, inside is clean (outdated, but clean). They opted to have it shipped to their house rather than drive the 9 hours to pick it up. It was delivered late at night & they both had to work the next day, so they didn't have a chance to go over everything. Well, surprise, there is floor rot in numerous places. In the bathroom is one of them. The person they purchased it from is being very good about it all. He said they could get a quote to have it repaired, or he would take it back. I think the repairs are going to be in the multiple thousands & he'll have a hard time swallowing that. I did suggest to my daughter to split the cost of the repairs & maybe he would do it then. It was stored indoors until about a year & a half ago. That seems to be when the leaks began. They paid $8,000 for it, so the price was good. But, the question is......

Would you love it, or leave it????

If condition is otherwise good, and what damage there is is lmited to the floor without a lot of collateral damage, I'd keep it. The Avion is a well engineered and constructed unit. Fix the floor and start having fun.... Or have fun fixing the floor. Your choice

Since the seller is willing to "help" with at least some of the cost of the repairs, it probaby would be better to fix this one. The next one they find, the seller might not be as willing to do the right thing, and start uttering the dreaded phrase "as-is".

If anyone knows what it's like to replace/repair flooring, it's you Becky. Biggest question for daughter and son-in-law, is it worth it to them? Do they really like the trailer besides the floor rot?
I'm with Paul, if condition of trailer is good other than floor rot, I say repair. Since I have over 8 years before I retire, I plan on pulling entire interior of moho, interior skin and all and re-doing flooring as well as new wiring and exterior grade plywood flooring.
Thanks, Derek
