Whole new frame

Does anyone know if the frame on a 1968 31 ft Internationalwas built flat or was it welded up on a jig with a small arch built into it? Heavy long truck trailers have a very pronounced arch to them so that when thay are loaded with cargo they end up flat. Did Airstream do this or did they use a perfectly flat frame jig? Mine is pretty rusty and needs a makeover.

How much shoould a 31ft bare shell weigh?

The shell is stiff enough, and the frame limber enough, that the frame conforms to the shell. Bare, the frame in my driveway sags an inch or more aft of the axles with the hitch jack set to level with above axles - that tells me the axle bracket, errr, frame, was fabricated flat.

I'd guess my 73 27' outer shell layer with windows and hatches weighs in at #500.

Airstream has never uplifted a frame.
