Unhappy What is going on with my floor! 2008

New 2008 23 D International Signature Series.
I noticed just two days ago while cleaning the unit that there is something not right with the floor.

There is a line forming under the vinyl floor (like a tube) forming a line going width-sides from the oven to the refrigerator.

Is that normal? was it there before and did not noticed it before? or there is something going on? I con not find the blueprints to see if there is something running under the floor in that location.

I looked under the Airstrieam and underbelly looks intact. It is exactly on top of a piece of 2 x 4 metal from the frame going from the front tire to the other side. There is a space in between the 2 x 4 and the skeen, so I could see that there is nothing going on from the bottom up.
I did notice that the washers that Airstream used to hold the shocks are starting to rot, what a poor choice of material!!

Any suggestions on what to do?

thanks

Hi adotutu,

Welcome to the forums.

If it's what I think it is, I would not be alarmed. You state it crosses the width of your unit, so it sounds like a joint line.

I have one in my 27FB, right in the hallway between the bedroom and bathroom. I showed this to my dealer when during the PDI and checkout, and even took a 3 foot level showing the change in plane direction on both sides of this line.

The plywood flooring is joined together at certain points. Unfortunately, its not the best joint I have ever seen. There is not much you can do about it as it is under your flooring material, which runs the whole length and width of your trailer....

Welcome adotutu, Boy what a shame. Ya know everything is subject to issues like that, minor but hell when you spend that kind of money you dont expect it to happen. I would take it back and see what they say. Airstream has always been good about customer care / support. I would want it fixed. You bought an "Airstream" not brand X. good luck

Is it a water line issue or a playwood/rot issue or both?

Neither by the sounds of it. Just the seam of the plywood coming apart and pushing up...

I just got an e-mail back from Airstream Technical support... (Mustang, Purman & Bambi bandit were right on the mula!!!)

From: "Airstream Tech" <tech@airstream.com>
Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2008 10:10:48 -0400
To: adotutu
Subject: RE: Floor question... (contact us from airstream.com)

From your description, it sounds like this is normal. I believe what you are seeing is where two sheets of the wood floor comes together at the cross member. Usually you can see this line.

Ok, but are they going to fix it... It's a new trailer and I would ask them to fix it... if it were 5-10 years old maybe not but it's not even a year right....

I would argue that. Even if it ment going to the BBB. I would not take that, what a shame. I have had goold luck with the BBB it takes them awhile but let me tell you companies dont want that on there record. Thats a Damn shame they took that stance. Argue it now, time is not on your side. get it documented. I can almost guarentee they will fix it when they find out they arent messing with with push over. I am intrested in the results after wards. ( Very dis heartning )
