yes that's the only path,the cross section is 8x1 inch then the vent duct which sits on top is 2x4 inches, i haven't put any drains into it but it is galvanised so it may sweat but shouldn't rust, i'm doing the flue for the instant water heater at the moment which is another piece of metal art! at least a bit of it is flexi tube, the flue itself is 4 1/2 inches accross!! so it's going to use a bit of valuable benchspace i'm afraid

So i made my door and test fitted before i seal up the back end and fit for good




made myself a new box to hold the gas bottles



done loads which i haven't photographed,

the water is installed,

wiring is complete,

just need to do the gas installation and a few bits and pieces like the window lifters, and the surround for the electric box a drip container for under the aircon ducting as it suffers from condensation! and then it will be onto the fitout itself!!

the light is growing at the end of this long black tunnel!!

Interesting Utube. It looks like Pex plumbing lines that I have installed a fair amount of. The fittings that are available here are not nearly as sophisticated as those shown in the utube video.

Just looked at your great thread (and subscribed). Incredible work. Although I am getting used to it I am still often amazed at the level of skills and craftsmanship displayed by the many members of this forum.

There is no down side but REALLY, must you guys and gals set the bar SO high for us basic DIYers. (Tongue in cheek) The inspiration here is incredible it even makes you think you CAN do it after all, and if not hire it out and enjoy it.

Thanks for the inspiration and the pictures. I laughed when I was a early voyeur here on the forum at the constant request for pictures but now I am drawn to the post with pictures also.

thanks for the vote of confidence!! i am a diy'er myself with the luxury of being able to use a workshop and have on hand a man with 30 years experience building/fitting cabinets in vans and doing conversions to vehicles which helps alot. there are many parts that i am not so happy about ( the interior lining where i hang them with only two people and put creases in them for instance although these will be covered by a splashback!) but you either cover them up or move on and with an overall picture it looks good! at the start i was disappointed when things didn't go to plan but now when i look at the mistakes it's hard to spot them. If i did it all again i'm sure it would go alot faster and be alot better´and i would only do a Bambi!!

right third go at posting this so it's gotta work!!

got my lighting i finished today, it's 24v Led strip, i have 7 metres which only runs 140 watts of power which is great for this fitout as i'm keeping the power consumption under a 16 amp system so i can plug in anywhere.
now to my problem, after getting the lights all finished i decided it was time to clean the interior aluminium of the finger marks but those buggers won't move!!,

i've tried,

Nitro (white spirits)
adhesive remover,
silicon remover,
glass cleaner,
foam cleaner,

the only thing that worked was 3M's fastcut which i don't want to use as i don't want to polish inside and out!! any suggestions from you guys would be much appreciated!!

the walls with the creases will be covered with a splashback, i really wanted the diamond pattern SS which you see in the American Carts but it's 500€ a sheet over here!!, what i'd really like is the SS pressed sunsets you got in the early diners, but there's a good dream! i am geussing i'll be having plain old SS!

here's my water boiler, the only place i could put it unfortunately that flue is going straight through a work bench!! oh well.

Got the door Skinned today (alot more work than i thought) it was a right pain with the curve but after 4 hours it was hung! looks o.k just need to drill the holes for the locks to slide into and i can put that one to bed

Not sure if ZEP 40 is available in Europe, but it works well at removing fingerprints from aluminum and stainless steel without leaving streaks.
