I'm starting the project planning for the 33'
Sovereign resurrection and I'm a bit stumped with the best route to take with the chassis. I've not seen another Airstream chassis like this and I thought I'd do some investigating.
This beast has the typical 4" deep channel but it also has another six foot section of 4" above the axles with skinny bars stretching out to the main rails just visible in the last (experimentally edited) pic and a trapezoid section up front but not on the A frame. Something here seems to be telling me that 4" isn't ideal.
There's a few factors that I think justify a deeper heavier frame mostly due to extra weight from big tanks, increasing the skin gauge and wanting mechanical levelling aids, so....
...given all the above I'm leaning towards constructing an entirely new frame from 8" channel or box section bur wanted to see if anyone had a similar frame and how they dealt with it.
