Unexpected find behind interior skin

I'm in the process of renovating a 22ft 1968 Safari Land Yacht with my Dad. While attempting to repair the flooring in the bathroom we noticed the ribs/studs behind the interior skin don't reach the U-channel. We are wondering if this is normal or if it is something that needs to be fixed?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Below are the pictures.

That is absolutely normal.

Those channels keep the metal from becoming wrinkled.

Another example of sh**y AS construction in my opinion. They should go to and be fastened to the channel. They were in my 77 Argosy.

It's not uncommon for the ribs to stop before they meet the C Channel. She's survived for 45 years with them like that - no worries!

So funny - I was just going to tell you to go look at Hi-ho's thread in the Overlander Section (there are several threads you can look at there that show this, btw) to see pictures of his. Mine is the same on the corners. If you had the top skin off you would see that those pieces you are concerned about end just past the seam and don't go all the way across. Those aren't really "ribs" but vertical stringers or "stays" to help keep the shape on the corners, is my understanding. They're made of the same light material the horizontal stringers are - maybe .032 or .040? They provide a surprising amount of rigidity even just suspended as they appear to be. I'm not going to attach mine to the floor, although I'd considered it.

You can attach them to the floor.

It will hurt nothing.

It also will not really help anything, except perhaps your personal feelings.

Thanks for all the input!! Amazing how much help you can get on this forum.

Also, Andy, just ordered a bunch of parts from inland RV. This trailer is going to look great.

The good news is that the floor and structure look sound.
