tub and black tank removal
hey guys
i have all the interior taken out of my 63 overlander, except for the tub and black tank, any tricks to getting them out? I can't get at the bottom of the trailer as it is still snowed in. any advice would be great
If you unscrew the drain fitting from the top (you may need this wrench)and loosen the trim pieces around the edge the tub will come out.
The tank will come out if you disconnect the drain valve pull rod and cut the vent pipe. Cut the pipe in a place that can be refit with a Fernco when you reinstall.
Mine was so corroded the only way I could get it loose on my 58 Overlander was to disconnect it from the underneath and pull the tub and drain out from the inside. I had a severely rotted floor that allowed me to pull much of the drain plumbing through the floor.

On my '64 the tub drain wraps around the tub between the inside & outside fiberglass then Y's onto the black water exit. Straight shot to the outside, no tank. I think most of the tub drain connections break off at this age, mine did. when you disconect or break the drain connection the tub lifts out. IF your b/water tank is like mine it sits in a metal pan between the frame rails. The top of the pan has a lip that is bolted to the bottom of the plywood floor, only the toilet dumps into it. The only way you can remove the tank is drop the back of the belly pan or cut the floor from above. Can get pics of the whole sorry dissassembled mess if you need them!
Hope you get this: I have to replace my subfloor as it is severely rotted, so can get to the black waste water tank. But, what does it take then to re-assemble the tank to the subfloor??? Still may need to access from below???
