Trailer Tongue / Bed Connection

I'm wondering if there's someone out there with experience assessing a possible damaged frame. I noticed a separation between the tongue of the trailer and the bed / frame and am wondering if this is a weld separation, i.e. structural issue, or just a caulked joint. I've included some photos. Two are of the left side where I noticed the gap, and the other is of the right side where there appears to be little to no gap. Thanks!
