Tile adhestive

I am taking up 12" square tile off of the floor and I am wondering if anyone knows a good way to get the adhesive up once the tile is removed. The new floor will not require anything to stick down, they lock together. Thanks, Tom

Heat gun and putty knife. What kind of new floor are you putting down?

Mine was so dried up that I just had to scrape it.
But I wanted to give you a "heads up" on the "Locking" type and not using an adhesive. I tried this with a Luxury Vinyl Floating Flooring that I purchased from Lumber Liquidators (the stuff was junk!). The 1st time that the flooring came apart I removed pieces and put it back together using an adhesive, that repair did not come apart and the 2nd time that it came apart I made the same repair. The 3rd time that it came apart, all in different areas, I took it all out.
I have seen others that have experienced this separation with their Vinyl, Bamboo & Cork Flooring when attending Vintage Trailer Rallies so my problem was not unique.

I found a product the Lowes has an exclusive on called Smart Core;
http://www.lowes.com/Search=smart+co...tt=smart+core#!

I talked with the manufacturer about my installation and he recommended that I glue it down. I used Liquid Nails Polyurethane Adhesive in a pattern similar to what was recommended to install an epoxy countertop by putting daubs down from the tube to allow the assembly to expand and contract. I also used a water based flooring glue to adhere the seams.
I did this last year when it was still in the 80s & 90s and it has since been down into the teens over this winter with no signs of movement.
Good Luck!

I have tile up but need to take the adhesive up. I had new plywood floor installed (rot), in the front 19'er, and am taking rest of tile up. I was shopping in Lowe's for tile and the salesman said he had a great deal (yea rite), of 6 boxes, 7 tiles each, 26.5X13" that had been special ordered and customer refused them. They were marked down to $73 and he said if I would take he would sell all for $32. The tile were a few hundred bucks originally and I could not pass it up (I would tile my driveway at that price. Like I said, tile are up but floor is so sticky, it needs to come up...I need something to clean floor. I will peruse website you provided. Thank you both very much. Manufacturer web site www.ivcgroup ( that's it), and box says "Luxury Vinyl Tiles." That's it

For some reason, when working on trailer, I come up with these hairbrain ideas. I am going to "try" placing one tile at a time on the floor, tracing around with pencil, lifting tile and putting adhesive around the drawn line. I believe this would help seal cracks and after tiling is complete, hold in place. It's in the 70's in Virginia making it a good day to start. This way would make for an easier removal of tile if Need be and less mess. I will go to Lowe's and see what I can find. Thanks to ya.

You might want to "skin" your floor with thin luan or plywood to cover the sticky before you lay your tile. We have a floating cork floor from Lumber Liquidators and have had no problems with it, down to minus 25 degrees and plus 100 degrees. Can't beat your deal, though!
