The New Floor is in the 345!
Well I'm really really tired but I got the new floor installed this weekend!
Installation was pretty straightforward but working from the passenger seat to the driver side bedroom closet was a real trick. There were moments when I was installing a 24' long section at one time. We installed birch flooring from UniBoard (available at Sams Club) which currently clashes with the original cabinetry but this will all make sense when we replace/veneer the old cabinetry with a new CCD look.
I left the rear boards wild as we'll be changing the bedroom into a U-Lounge so the floor will be extended back about four more feet.
We also tried out the aluminum "veneer: over the old vinyl and its working out well.
Here are a few pictures.

Base material
Looks nice.
What's the process? What was the surface like, and is it all glued down?

Thanks. The boards lie on top of a thin foam pad (seconds as a moisture barrier) installed over the OSB floor that was already there. I removed the carpet and and found my sub floor to be fairly level and in good condition so other than removing what seemed like a thousand staples and tapping a few nails back down there was little prep required on the base.
To install the flooring you lay in the first board in place (top left corner looking down) and then lock eac lier board together in a row. Each susequent row then locks to the previous row. No glue required. It will all be held in with an aluminum trim cap (still to be installed).

Laminate trim?
Hi Steven,
I am very interested in your flooring - looks fantastic and the pictures really add to the discussion. A few questions:
1. You mentioned aluminum trim. Is this to go around the edges to cover the 1/4 inch gap? Did you leave the 1/4 inch gap around everywhere except at the door sill? Why not a matching wood? I gather you did the complete motorhome. I am still torn between all the floor in my 1994 34 footer or just kitchen or the front half of the trailer leaving the bedroom and toilet areas in carpet.
For unlay I plan to use a felt like material with a vapour barrier such as they use on concrete floors. I understand it not only insulates the floor, but deadens the sounds on the floor.

Removing furniture for flooring
Thanks for the information, Steven.
How much of your furniture did you pull out? Cabinets, credenza,bed,...?

Wow! Looks great!
Chili and I saw that flooring last time we were at Sams. It was nice thin. Perfect for the application. Hope they still have it once we are ready for it.
