Thanks to this forum!

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that have documented your restorations and shared your experiences on this forum. My husband and I started reading these forums before we ever even found our Airstream and... wow...what a wealth of information! Because of this forum, we were able to hit the ground running on our project.
I have posted pictures of our progress here: Photography by Stephanie Matney | The Airstream Project

Thanks again and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Wow. Great restro and photo documentation. Can't believe you found all the info and courage to tackle this project on the forums and this is your first post. Welcome, and it looks like we could all learn a lot from you guys too!

Good Job!!!

Dan and Steph:

Like minded streamers are attracted to one another.

A group close to you that you should check out is the Heart of Texas Camping Unit:

Check out some of their activities - vintage boondocking is their specialty.

Great job on the redo and the documentation...congrats on doing your homework prior to tearing into it.

Yes, very good job. So how long would you say it has taken to get this far. What kind of floor did you put down?

That's a very good first Airforums' post but now you've set the bar high for your next set, we'll leave a light on for you

Looks like you have a few generations of helpers contributing!

Care to share the Timeline to present and future Timeline??

Thanks for posting this. I have the same exact trailer model and year and it is interesting to see it broken down.

Wow, I'm very impressed. Nice work, creative ideas on the lift of the body. Tough first post to beat.

Thanks to you all for the support and warm welcome!

87MH - We actually met several of the members of The Heart of Texas Camping Unit at their Halloween outing at The LBJ Grasslands and have already joined! We are looking forward to our first outing with them.

StreamRollin - We bought our trailer on October 4th. We worked weekends and evenings getting it gutted and all the cribbing in, supplies bought, etc. for a Thanksgiving lift-off. We took a few extra days off work then and on Tuesday we lifted the shell off. Wednesday we removed the old floor and made sure we had all the steel we needed for frame repairs. We had already ordered several new outriggers. Thursday...we ate turkey and were thankful! Friday we took the frame over to a friends shop and by 3:00 they had all the new outriggers on and the welding done! It was awesome! We washed it down with marine clean, did the metal prep thing and on Sunday we painted the POR15 on. This past Saturday we installed the new floor on the frame and Sunday we lowered the shell back down. I guess you could say it has taken us 9 weeks though, since that's how long we have had the trailer. We used 1/2" marine plywood for the floor.

Wabbiteer - Future timeline...camping by Spring! We may not have running water or electricity but, we will have a very nice aluminum tent!

Our next step is to get the tanks and pans up, the insulation in and the belly pans back up. We hope to get new brake wire in and the new exterior lights installed and working over the Christmas break. We can't imagine what she will look like with all the running lights on! Exciting stuff!

Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to you all! Thanks again!

Dan and Steph

What Tha...!? Wow!! You guys are on fire. Great job on the project. Its a great day when that hunk of aluminum starts to look like a trailer again
Keep posting pics, but I will say it is good for your head to verbally share your experience. When I re read my posts from a year ago they mean something totally different now.
