Streamline Frame welding; thicker than 1/8th overkill?

Hi everybody! I'm welding in new outriggers to repair a partial rear frame separation on this trailer and I opted to fabricate them out of some pretty thick plate thinking that it would be much stronger.
However, I then realized that these frames are designed to flex and be light weight so I'm having second thoughts about the heaver steel.
Any thoughts?

Colin Hyde told me to replace my frame members with 11 gage steel. (.119) the original are. 090
Heavier would be overkill.
