BACK to the 1959 Traveller, now! (sorry for the diversion).
Here's a higher res pic of the interior. The wood looks even better in person than in the pics. VERY warm and inviting! I can't wait to get back on it, which actually will be really soon. As soon as the trade wind is back together (maybe 2 weeks?), I'm going full-steam on the Traveller again. My wife's mum is coming over in November, and I need to get our guest trailer ready for the November Falluminum in Hiawassee. Nothing like a deadline to get me back on task!
I've got the new fridge ready to install (electric only), and have found someone to do all the cushions and upholstery. I actually have to do both trailers (due to the new layout in the other one). PIcs of course... when it's done!
Anyway, here's a high-res pic of the Traveller from a while back. More photos as soon as I get it back on the front burner!
JP-- Thanks for the update on the TW, I've been looking forward to seeing your progress on that one. I'm very interested in seeing your dinette solution once you've completed it. I know you were trying to keep it under a certain amount of hours of work for the TW, have you been able to do so?
Also looking forward to updates on the Traveler, of course. This trailer has clearly been a long labor of love for you, and it shows.
Thanks for all of the documentation, I know it takes a long time on top of the real work of renovating your trailers, and it is very much appreciated.
Thanks for all the kind words. Sometimes I think the forums is more of a support group for the afflicted! ha!
Not to hi-jack my thread AGAIN... but here's a few pics of one of the dinette benches, ready for the plywood top. Check out the vintage knobs! Makes it look original. :-)
Not to further hijack your own thread, but at one point you mentioned creating a built-in crib into the TW dinette-- is that still part of your plan?
(It piqued my curiosity because I have an 8-month-old of my own and I thought that was a really cool idea.)
It's still in the plan, sorta! The table top won't make the front wall, because of the raked bottoms, but we still plan on doing something nice with it. I'll post pics once it's all back together.
again... this is our TRADE WIND, NOT the 59 Traveller! Once the table and cushions are in, I'm done working on this one for the year... my little 18 footer is feeling neglected!
:-)
On the curb-side part of the dinette, I'm putting in a door on the facing edge, so I can keep our outdoor goodies in there (chairs, tables, etc), and get to it from the front door.
looks fantastic, what type of catches are you using to keep them closed in transit? a problem I found very aggrvating on the bottom hinged doors in my caravel
