Redesigning the front gray water tank around this drain, will not transfer to back gray tank with pump as stated in previous post, will use gravity to empty tank.

Getting ready to permanently install tanks and floor. Did some touch up welding and painting and also covered the edges of the plywood with trempro 635...................

HAIL - very lucky it was small.....

We had one this past spring that if it had passed over the house it would have done real damage to the AS - golfball size. Instead it was 1/2 mile down the road..... Whew.

Great progress, let me know when I can bring the Caravel up for a referb.

Hey Toastie...Just wondering, do you sleep? Do you eat? Do you have a job you go to?!!!!!!!!!! Your doing a great job, I've been following your progress. I can't wait to see what you do for the interior! We hopefully will be doing a similiar, not-so-detailed retro to a 1959 24' tradewind. I have gota lot of great ideas from you, thanks. Keep them coming! By the way, what do you do professionally? Is it some kind of fabrication?

Looking good Toastie,Getting the tanks and axel all set really seems to take some time,I like your tank hangers. Do the tanks move side to side enough to drop the tanks down,it looks like you welded the rerod in place? My project has come to a standstill for a while,I'm a heating guy and all of my coustomers have been starting there furnaces up the last couple of weeks,so not much a.s. time.How did you decide how big of tanks to go with?I've been reviewing the tank options,trying to keep as much clearance as possibleunder the tanks.Being you from the north also our days working outside are are getting fewer,I was hoping to get my floor back on before the snow hits but we will see,we had some snow yesterday.

Yes, the tanks drop right in and rest on the angle iron. I took steel washer welded to the rod ends, not to the frame, the rods can't move, but still can rotate, then welded the angle iron to the rods. To hold the tanks down, I will use 4 small bolts one at each corner, will make sure that the drilled holes are large enough for the bolt to freely drop in, hand tighten only, double nut, I may also wedge the tanks down. So, to remove a tank, I would have to cut the rods, and pull rods out since the rods are not welded to the frame. I original was going to use brackets to fasten the angle iron to the rods, but when torque is applied would twist the angle iron putting stress on the tanks. The main goal here is not to stress the tanks at all, if I can achieve that, the tanks should out live me.

Toastie,

The picture in the upper left looks as though you screwed through the flange of the tank... Is that true?

I like the idea of "bedding" the tank flange in tempro. In my set-up I was concerned about the tank shifting, but the tempro would greatly prevent that.

I looked back a little to see that your tanks appear to be built differently than mine... thus the reason for my "bolt" question. the flanges on may tanks are 3" deep and are part of the contents holding portion of the tank. Drilling a hole as you have would have meant I would need to seal the tank where the bolt exited the bottom of the flange. I see now that your flanges are formed by extending the top sheet of the tank thus they can be drilled without penetrating the tank.

Regarding my fridge... I am very happy with the NovaKool. It adds significant functionality with a level of reliability and simplicity not found in the Ammonia charged units. I am also happy that even though I purchased it for our Ambassador, it will fit very nicely under the existing counter in our Globetrotter.

I've immensely enjoyed your posts... thank you.

Thanks, well, I just woke up, need to lose a few pounds, and I work for one of the big 2 auto companies advance engineering powertrain groups in the Detroit area. I was going to say the big 3 but it looks like Chrysler is going down. The wife is in charge of the interior design and it looks like today we are going retro, we both design as we go and we are constantly changing things, nothing on paper at all.

Floor, 1 black and 2 gray tanks are in. Will probably wait for spring to install the belly pan/floor permanently, wheel wells are permanently attached to side walls. Started work on the electrical.

Went to Lowes today and bought my GE electrical box and circuit breakers.

1) 125 amps TL412C main lug box
1) 15 amp GFCI
1) 20 amp GFCI
1) 15 amp breaker
1) 20 amp breaker
1) 10' of #8 wire that I will run from Marinco 30A 125V to Main 30 amp breaker.

This will be a BIG learning curve for me. Will need to come up with a wiring diagram on paper so I can balance out the question marks below. Then I will go to the 12v system.

Wire 5 will be for the main
Wire 4 to the 20 amp will be only for air conditioner
Wire 3 to the 15 amp will be Intellipower and ?????
Wire 2 to 15 amp GFCI will be kitchen, exterior and ?????
Wire 1 to 20 amp GFCI will be bath, refrigerator, exterior and ?????

125 amps? Wow! Seriously, tho, looks like you're headed down the right path. One thing I did was to add a seperate dedicated 15 amp breaker & circuit just for the microwave. Something to think about if you are going to install one those.
