Shell On Floor Replacement

Hello Everyone.

I can't seem to find anybody that's done a shell on sub-floor replacement. I saw link a while back with pictures showing the use of shims to keep the shell up off the frame, but no follow up on how they got their subfloor back in. In my haste and excitement I started ripping perfectly good subfloor out of my trailer because I wanted to update the insulation and trailer wiring, now I'm starting to wonder what I'm going to need to do to get new subfloor in.

Oops was that important.

All information and insult is welcome.

Try RJ Dial's web site Vintage Airstream Home and look for the 1956 Flying Cloud section.

I'm in the middle of a "shell-on" floor replacement myself. If you have any questions feel free to contact me via email.

You might also check out posts by "pizzachop" I've learned a lot from reading about his several A/S renovations.

I did one as well. It's a long thread, and mine is a '73, but someting in there may help: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f226...nte-15132.html

And we are in the middle of one too on our '56 Safari

Not a whole lot of pictures posted yet, but there will be in the next couple of weeks (mostly on our website) - we are in the gathering stage - tanks, toilet, systems that go in the floor before we can put the floor back in.
