Question Shell-Off Floor Replacement e-book

The following is from NorCal Bambi: I am working of an e-book section for the Airstream Knowledge Sharing Forums. I am also working with Andy R. The purpose of this book is to consolicate much of the very good information found in these Threads. The project I am working on at present is the Floor Restoration. I WILL NEED LOTS OF INPUT FORM ALL WHO ARE WILLING!
My current need is a suggested list of Threads on this subject that can be use for reference. Also a list of tools need to do this job, special tools and other wise.
I am open to all help and suggestions.
Thanks
NorCal Bambi

I appreciate the fact that you chose the "shell off" method of floor replacement for your e-book project. This method allows for a clean, original, and durable repair, which is much easier to document than all the different shell on methods, used by many to repair their floors.
I have pictures a a bit of information I can contribute if you need it.

Kudos to you for compiling this invaluable resource. As someone with a trailer that only needs modest floor repair, I would like to see a section for shell-on repairs as well. Just my $0.02

Thanks again for taking on this monumental task.

Thanks for you suggestion. After the Shell-Off method a section Shell-On Would also be helpful to may. Would you be willing to start collecting iformation you find on threads that we could use when we get to that stage?
Thanks

Hi Don,

I have used the shell on approach and found that it worked well enough for me. Check out the following thread and especially my post #3. It has some pointers to other threads that have details on what I did. There is a pretty good list of the tools that I found usefull in one of them.

I would be happy to participate in the floor replacement topic as I have time.

e-book

Hi Malcolm, I looked at your threads and your pictures. I also liked the diagrams you created. Did you do those on the computer? I have created a cover and introduction pages. I have sent those to Andy R. He will be reviewing those pages + a sample layout I sent him to approve. The Section on shell-off floor replacement is what I am currently working on. There is a request for a shell-on floor replacement (see below). What I would like to do once I get a little further along is send you the current sample. I think we should work with this by e-mail until Andy R gives an approval on a go ahead. Thanks for you offer.

I did use CAD software for the diagrams that I have posted. Excpet that is for a few hand sketches I think I made somewhere along the line. When the time comes I believe that I have a bunch more photos that I have never posted too.

Holding pattern

It sounds like everyone has been really busy. I havn't forgot about an e-book project. I'm just in a holding pattern waiting for input and coments form above. This will be a big project once it gets started, so it's good to take it slowly and get it right. The wife and I are off to the Beverly Beach State Beach Gathering this weekend. Good folks and good times.
