Sealing Hole in Floor
Hi Everyone,
I have a 2017 FC19. When winterizing I noticed that under the driver side dinnette seat where the electrical exits the interior there is a large gap. What is the best way to seal this gap?
These pictures aren't that great but show what I'm referring to.

If the furnace blows air into the space below the floor, those gaps are required for the air to circulate/return to above the floor.

Hi
Even without the furnace, when you turn on the vent hood over the range, the air has to come in from somewhere. Seal everything up tight and the vent hood stops working ....
Assuming you want to go ahead anyway, there are a variety of silicone products that will do the trick. As long as the tube says it's ok for use on aluminum, you are good to go.

Goes to the outside
This hole goes to the outside. it doesn't show in the pictures but you can see daylight. This is in the freshwater compartment under the road side dinette seat at the front of the trailer.

I should add that my primary concern here is to keep critters from getting into the trailer. In my mind this really isn't a design feature for letting fresh air into the trailer. Also, this hole is in the floor, through plywood.

About a year ago, I had to replace some of the wiring coming through an essentially identical hole in our 2002 19'. It was a good thing that the hole was not sealed up with caulk!
If you are concerned about critters coming in, I suggest that folded up hardware cloth pushed in to the open space will keep them out. If it is air entry you are worried about, soft polyurethane foam (sponges are a good source) can be stuffed into the space. Both? Wrap the foam in a bit of hardware cloth and stuff that in there.

I used Trempro 635 to seal up electrical penetrations in my 27FB floor. Sikaflex 221 should work as well.

Consider this stuff. Packs nicely into small and large gaps and spaces, won't rust, can be removed by hand (gloved, preferably)...this is what I use.

If you can see outside does that not imply water could splash in during a blowing heavy wind, or possibly when towing through water puddles? Concerned about the exposed plywood edges, in addition to rodent issues as previously noted.
Maybe if you get some of that stuff Rich mentioned in post #8 or possibly copper mesh, soak the mesh in a soft pliable rubber type sealant, then after it drys, insert into the hole so it will both keep out rodents and provide a bit of a water seal...
The devil is in the details as they say. On the other hand, maybe I should just get a life...

Looks like yours isn't that bad, we found quite a large square shaped hole under the front couch when we removed it. The Maple plywood was my attempt at making the hole a more reasonable size, but we still need to fill the remaining gaps with steel wool.
In addition, while remodeling the bedroom and bath we found 2" circular saw holes for 1/2" pex at the water heater and incoming water feed. And, there is quite a large square opening immediately behind the toilet, normally hidden by a box, that allows a nice view of the dump connections from the inside. To be fair, I did have to cut away a fair amount of carpet to reveal those openings, which would have prevented some airflow...
Point being, if you are looking to mouse proof, there are other things you might want to explore. Although, based on your pictures, looks like the newer models do have more reasonably sized openings.

Based on what we see after 18 years of use, the bigger issue appears to be dirt accumulation, specifically in areas that are not easily accessible. Dusty roads and holes in the floor do not mix...

Good point. We travel dirt roads a lot. Dust will get in through the smallest of holes.

Plumber's putty would be my choice. Easy to work with, stays flexible and easy to remove.

Plumbers putty. Yes indeed. Stuff in some SS or copper wool just in case pack rats and squirrels like the taste, then pack in Plumbers putty. Somehow I have GOT to remember this suggestion.

Idea
Fine gauge steel wool — use as much or as little as needed.

Ordinary steel wool rusts, disintegrates, and makes a horrid mess.
Use stainless steel or combination of fiberglass and stainless steel wool.
See post #8 for what I use...
