Rust - Electrolysis ?

I have one skid plate that looks like new and one that has a heavy gauge ground wire attached in the center and is rusted very bad. Is is possibly electrolysis? And should I be concerned about the frame above being rusted?

Looks like a lot of corrosion. I would say that it was either parked at the beach or you have a bumper seal leak and the water is getting under the floor and rotting stuff out. That is from a 95? That is alot of corrosion for one that young. I would pull the skins and look real close at the floor in the back.

You have to have water to have electrolysis. Where is the water coming from?

Removed skin around skid plate and cut off rusted piece with side grinder. Frame is good. I can see where water dripped down from bumper seal or lack of seal. I will get my fabricator/welder friend to weld new skid plate on and button things back up.
Thanks to all for the helpful information.

Yes but that did the leak do to your floor? The floor is usually the first thing to go.

The good news is we had pulled carpet, inspected floor and found it is harder than Chinese arithmetic!
