Rotten floor in storage compartment

Hi there,
I found that the rear storage compartment in my 2004 16foot bambi is wet and rotten (see photo after I removed all rotten wood and insulation). In the past it had gotten wet there do to a shower leak but the airstream has been sitting for 11 months and I only used the shower a few times (6 showers) on a recent trip last week and the subfloor was completely wet and rotten when I checked. Including insulation underneath it. I imagine that the leak is caused by something else. We had a lot of rain in Montana last month and I am wondering if water is coming from the outside. I don't see anything obvious anywhere. There are no water streaks or obvious entry and exit areas. The water was underneath the linoleum and only obvious when I started digging with a knife. Any idea what places I should check? Could the leak be between the outside and inside aluminum panels?
Thanks for the help!
Paolo

Lack of any caulking or gaskets where the bumper storage lid meets the body of the trailer is a common cause of this problem. If you search the forums for "sealing rear compartment" or "rear compartment leak" it should turn up what has been done to fix this. I have not had this problem withi my 2001 (knock wood) but it generally involves removing the molding and its chrome insert, and the bumper top and caulking the area.

Al, thank so much for the reply! Yes, looks like that's where the leak is coming from.
