Replace or Patch?

We leaped before looking a few months ago and bought the very first Airstream we looked at; a 1970 Ambassador. Perhaps a tad overambitious, my husband and I convinced ourselves we'd be able to reno the trailer ourselves and are quickly finding out otherwise. Among other things, our main problem is the dreaded rear end separation. We've decided to outsource the repair to P&S but the big debate for now is: replace the subfloor in the rear and fix the rear end sep, or ask for a shell off full subfloor replacement?

The PO fixed a soft spot in front of the door and claimed that he found no other bad spots during his work (he built a dinette in the front). We've ripped out the green carpet with rubber backing from under the the cabinets next to the fridge and found water damage from around the wheel well area. The wood still seems alright, although I did plan on epoxying it.

Has anyone had P&S do such extensive work? Of course, it depends on the extent of the work, but can anyone give me a ballpark figure of how much their repairs were?

I don't have experience having anyone do that type of work but, I would get a gray water tank installed at the time if I did. (most 1973 and older trailers don't have factory gray tanks)

That's definitely in the plan- we're thinking of having them replace the fresh water tank, as well. After 43 years, it's probably due for a new one.
