Original Floor

I just bought a 1965 Safari. Does anyone know how to find out what the original floor was or the most authenticate replacement. While I'm asking this, I know car VIN #'s told you where and what type of car you bought. Does the Ser# give any clues for Airstream? I'm also trying to find out what color the Zolacote would have been. Thanks in advance.

The VIN will tell you the length, floorplan and if the stream was built in Santa Fe, Ca or Jackson Center, Ohio.

One can often find the original zolatone hidden in inaccessible areas behind cabinets and such. The original color won't be available but certainly you can approximate it with a custom blend.

The floor would have been 8 inch square linoleum. Also no longer made but I have known people who cut down 12 inch marmoleum to get the right look! . Most people will settle for sheet marmoleum or the 12 inch squares commonly available.

Thanks for the information

On the flooring, does anyone know what color type of Marmoleum would have been close to authentic. Also how does one going about bringing back to original state if the appliances aren't available anymore. Is it better to have old appliances rebuilt or newer technology put in it's place. I'm torn between wanting to be authentic, not being able to and thinking if that's the case should I just make it stylish modern - within reason.
