Shell is back on. Trying to locate and fix all seam leaks, before rewiring.

Burlesque!
If a total shell-off is a full monte, then I think this survey fails to capture the large number of us who are taking a more moderate approach (aka burlesque???). I interpret "burlesque" as the teasing exposure of the least amount of skin necessary for safe restoration.
We're midway on that. The floor is up in sections at the front and rear.

I think there could be a 'burlesque' thread too, but they are definitely two different procedures. I'm dying to find out how Eric is doing, we don't hear from him very often. (Eric, 59toaster, coined the 'full monty' terminology)
I know he was having some health problems and hope everything is working out ok.

Boy do I feel bad. I thought Full Monte meant a "full remodel", not necessarily a "shell off". Looks I'll have to rename my main thread "Doin' the Full Monte (almost)".
Mary, keep those Great Ideas coming....Maybe you could start a new poll!

It means what YOU say it means, it's was your thread
We just have to remember a "monty" is a shell off, and a "monte" is a total remodel. I guess some people, like me, will eventually do a "monty-monte".

I would vote if there was a option for where I am. I am in the process of removing the shell. I have a little to go before the shell comes off, like repairing the roof so the shell doesn't fold up when I lift it off the frame.
So the option of "Shell almost off" would be my vote.

Too funny, Don! Now we have to watch spelling too!
I think it's, ahem, kind of like religion...
There are two sects...
The church of the "take it off, take it all off honey!" and
The church of "let them think about it, but leave the sailors wondering!"
No sense arguing about religion. Jim, don't you suppose it's time for a show of some faith in our aluminum temples?
Swish, swish,
Kabooom!

I think the two camps are more a matter of "I want to go camping this year" or "I want to go camping next year (or the year after if I get carried away)"!
Seriously, I salute those brave enough to do the full-monty. I felt a half-monty solved my problems sufficiently. And now I am going camping...

One to camp (68 Caravel) one to go broke (59 Overlander). I want a classic MH but the Chairperson of the Committee of Everything didn't even respond to the hint. Not a good sign.
I have to go buy some powerball tickets. If I win I'm going to pay someone to do the polishing. And maybe buy one of those new classic MH if they make a 28 footer.

I have a deal for ya.
If you win, I will come to your house and finish your project. But if I win, you have to come to Minneapolis and finish mine! Cost will not be a problem, I will pay $200/hr.

I get the same reaction from my Chairperson. I guess that's why they're in charge!

That's not far from reality! When I was working on Vintage Thunder 90 hours a week, I missed Valentine's Day and my wife's birthday. Good thing she's an understanding sort. She even came over to help clean rat droppings off the cabinetry one weekend.
There was a price to pay, of course, but dinner out, a pair of tickets to Cirque du Soleil, and a nice hotel resolved it ...

I guess we'd be classified as "Hooters". You know where you see the scantily clad waitress, but really you just went there for dinner or to watch the game, and there is no real floor show just buffalo wings.
We just have to update a few things, get rid of some beige. But the shell and floor are fine. Too tired to even think about polishing. Maiden voyage in 2 hours.

"almosty" is what we are doing. we have the sub-floor almost totally out except around the edges. Time to brace (and pray) and take out the rest of it. then fix the frame, de-rust it and rust proof. Then time to put new floor in and get going on the putting back together thing. We are really looking forward to that time. Ah.... 60traveler

I'm just finishing up with brackets for my holding tanks. That will be done on Sun. This will finish the frame remod. Then moving on to the plywood. The "clothing" is still on scaffolding. Any reason I shouldn't use 3/4 ply instead of the the original 5/8? I bought 5/8, but the quality was not good and returned it. Our wood products now days do not match the products of 50 years ago. I plan to lay lanoleum down before putting her cloths back on. Hopefully that will be with in the month. Inbetween projects finds me stripping the interior panals (all removed), redoing window frames, designing bathroom, plumbing, wiring, & interior, and general fantisying up coming trips. If someone can clue me into how to add photos to my profile I would share the adventure. There you have it, my roll-call-report.
Take care,
Will
