Laminate Floor Trim?

We plan to replace the factory carpet with floating-no glue laminate wood flooring next month.

Now some questions has come up: What's the best type of trim to use (shape?)? How do we attach the trim along the trailer walls where it's aluminum? Can we get away without using any trim along the trailer walls at all?

I brad nailed a cove moulding along the edges of mine. The floor is great but I'm really unhappy with how the trim turned out. I have not yet come up with an alternative but will let you know when I do. I'm thinking I might use a chrome cove moulding but will have to try a sample and see how it fits in.

I used a "plastic" quarter round to trim out the Pergo when I did the 345 in '03.

The one thing I would do different is to use real wood trim instead of the plastic.

Some of the areas (the 345 has some intricate wood cabinet bases) required a small profile base board plus the quarter round to cover all of the edge crevices.

I could not find anything that would work at a building supply store so I used my table saw and router to shape quarter round from some old scrap pieces of oak flooring. I stained it to match the floor and coated it with poly. There were some areas under the bottom cabinet doors where I had to use very small quarter round. I drilled small pilot holes and used small nails to nail it to the floor. (I tried double sided tape but it didn't work.) I didn't do a perfect job but it looks great to me, and we like the floor much better than the original carpet.

I've installed laminate and I too have not found one I like yet. Tried plastic, wood and Pergo molding, too fussy I guess. I'll hit on it one day!

You can see how my floor turned out in these pics. I think you can even see my cove mouldings. They are the plastic imitation wood ones. I would not use them again. My neighbour is has a respectable woodworking shop and when I mentioned that I'd read about the use of left over wood flooring his eyes lit up and he said he thought he could help.
