Compressing the insulation kills it's insulating properties. If you want fiberglass you'd be better off peeling 3.5" bat in half. John mansville doesn't use formaldehyde, probably easier to get. Still has drawbacks of fiberglass, but it's a quick install.

We did not insulate under our floor either. We did use a floating multilayer cork floor in the trailer, which has wonderful insulating properties.
