1 ton hoists should be easily more than enough.

I agree. You will be surprised at how easy it is to lift the shell. It is surprisingly light. Just make sure you support the bottom of the shell at the forward- and backward-most ribs with a 2x4 or 2x6 that spans the width of the shell. I screwed those in mine into the C-channel, then set the whole shell down on four furniture dollies so I could roll it into and out of my garage.
