heating black tank?

I am removing the rear floor in 72 over lander and there is a heater vent hose run through the floor and into the galvanized box holding the black tank. I don't plan on lots of really cold camping. I don't see the need to cut the new wood for this vent. The tube had come off and was a major highway for the rodents I had to deal with.

My love goes to you all that are dealing with fixing ASAP.
