Frame steel thickness?

I am replacing the last 8 feet of frame on a 69' Overlander and I was wondering if anyone know what gauge of steel is used in the frame C channel? I measured it and I am guessing it is around 12 gauge? I can get 14 gauge for free and I am thinking it is too thin. Anyone know exactly what they used? I search for days and really never found out.

Thanks,
