flooring

We just bought our first Airstream, and it has carpeting. Yes, we will rip it out, but I was just wondering what others have used to replace the old carpeting. We have dogs, so we need waterproof, and easy to clean. Any advice is welcome.

flooring

We used a composite wood floor. It looks like real wood but is more durable and easier to clean.

We have dogs too....

We recently replaced all the flooring in our 2006 AS and, after doing lots of research on this forums and other places, ended up using Hone Depot's Allure vinyl planks. On the plus side, it was fairly easy for a neophyte to install, but on the minus side, it scuffs and dulls very easily and a corner of one plank cracked off when I pulled my vacuum across it (grrrr!). We almost went with BeauFlor, a sheet vinyl that Airstream and other RV dealers use. Visit syntecind.com to get more information about the floor. It's very reasonably priced! I wish we had used it. Here's a pic of our Allure floor.

We used Armstrong Luxe series vinyl floor. Easy to install like the Alure but a thicker and more durable finish. A little more expensive but not much. My thought was if I don't like it I can take it out and replace it pretty easily. If I decide to do that, I'll use Marmoleum, but I don't like the environmental downside.

We just finished putting down cork today, still have to put on the trim. The floor feels very nice under foot and looks great. It is a floating floor and was quite a job to install but think it will serve us well.
Good luck on your project!

Today on Airstream #2, we just installed some vinyl press and stick parquet flooring.

It came out pretty good overall for a quick fix, for less than $150.

I looked at that allure flooring at Home Depot and thought was nice. Thanks for the advice on the cracking.

Removable carpet. Easy to pull out and clean. Soft on the bare feet. Dogs don't slide around like they do on wood floor.

Paint the wood sub floor and just paint it again when stained with dog pee.

Better use marine grade paint.

I have been paranoid about leaks so for now my floor is painted with some throw rugs over it. Brown might also be a good color or brown spots on a yellow background, Camouflage.
