Floor Profile - 1963

Does anyone have accurate measurements of the floor shape for a 1963 Globetrotter? I measured the floor width and length as I dismantled it but all 4 corners were badly rotted and not good enough to make patterns.

I did make a pattern of the inside edge of the u-channel in the front corner and noticed that the rear was close but not quite the same and I'm concerned that I'll cut to that pattern and it won't be close enough when I set the shell onto the new u-channels.

If I can't find the measurements, then I'll have to set the shell down and trace it's profile and then remove it to cut the plywood and make the new belly pan.

I'm also open to other suggestions.

Thanks,
Matt

Those corner radii are pretty much the same for all 1960's-era Airstreams. So, if you find a friend with one, maybe you can copy his. Both sides are the same, so you can make one template, and flip it over for the other side. Less work= more camping time.

My '63 rear corners were like yours, no plywood to use as a template. I used the "C" channel, cut it a bit wide and re-fit as I dropped the shell. I did NOT attach the corner C channel to the floor until the shell had been dropped onto the floor and everything fit.

Details are somewhere in my '63 thread in the Sig Line...

Thanks both for your comments I've started through your thread, Vernon, and it's an excellent source of data.

when setting down the shell, make sure the front and rear ends are squre and centered between the walls. My front panel wanted to rest 2" off center toward the street direction. I had to use a rachet strap to pull it sideways before marking the corner curves.

Setting the Shell Down Tomorrow

I think I have everything ready to set the shell down on the new floor tomorrow so I can trace the corners. Should play out to be one of those stressful days hoping not to drop the thing...
