Floor level change at bathroom?
I'm a new owner Gary and just read your ideas and suggestions regarding floors.
I would like to ask your advise on my remodeling strategy.
I removed my carpet in my 02 Bambi and want to lay down Vinyl Tile but I have to meet the level of the rear bath area which has this faux masonite tile that is about 1/2" higher. It would be difficult to remove because it goes under the closet and bed storage.
I figure that If I glue and screw down a 1/2" underlayment such as plywood or"Advantek", which a fellow member suggested, over the whole existing plywood subfloor I will be level with the faux tile. Then I can just go over the whole area with VCT which will bring me back up to the level where the existing carpet was.
This way I will not have any gaps under the cabinets.
OPTION #2 would be to just glue the VCT over the existing subfloor and have a 1/2" step when you get to the bed and bath area. I would then have to add quarter round trim at the perimeter of all of the base cabinets.
What do you think?
