Which is better as far as full floor replacement. Shell on or shell off.
Second...since I will be doing this outside this winter...within the next couple of weeks, I am trying to figure out the fastest way, as well as the correct way to do this. I would "like" to replace the floor in a day...granted I do the prep work to get the shell ready for lift off...if taking it off turns out to be the case.
Can the floor replacement be done in one day?
So that is how this thread started...
Aluminati, Do you listen to the VAP? I was honored to be a part of it on episode 59. On the show I challenged the pros to a bathroom show down. The problem with all that is now I have to replace my bathroom quickly and efficiently before they do the finishing details. Would you please start replacing yours and document it with lots of photos so I will know what I am doing? It is all in good fun and will cause me to "gid er dun"
Shari, This Airstream family really is great. It seems like folks all over the country are helping each other out..
I have been following this thread with interest, the occasional chuckle and a lot of "been there, done that" remembering other projects. I have been drawing up plans for some time to redo my 66 Overlander and decided getting the floor ( and everything related ) done this winter would be my goal. Sometimes working for yourself can mean benefits when doing personal projects. I employ a welder, have a lot of metal working equipment and a large shop with space for the AS to sit for awhile out of the weather. Being able to watch and learn from others through this site has already saved me countless headaches before I even start. My only complaint is this. Every time I decide that I know what I am going to do I find another thread with a better idea. Aaaarrrgh! Now just when I have everything sorted I learn about heating etc. with Diesel. There goes the budget, assuming of course there was a budget!
Now if the employee that has his EDSEL torn apart in the aforementioned space for the AS would just finish his job and move it............! Barry
You will find eager buyers for everything you do not want. Another option is to pass it on to others. Sometime knowing you helped someone out can be very rewarding. Then again selling it on ebay can be rewarding too. Have you finished removing your bathroom?
I could use the piece that is shown in the left photo below (photo on the right is the piece I have). If you have it, I'd be interested in that and a few other odds n ends.
Please PM with you e-mail address and maybe we can work something out.
