Bumper Shock Absorbers

I am about to put the bumper back on my trailer that I have spent months getting road worthy again. I plan on extending the frame a few inches to give me room to put the storage compartment back on that I took off when I remove the bumper plate that goes under the back of the trailer. Since the plate is not there and I don't want the compartment to touch the back of the trailer, I am going to have to extend the bumper.

I got to thinking that maybe putting some car type bumper shock absorbers back there might save me some agony down the road if someone decides to rear end the trailer. This would make at least low speed collisions a little more survivable not to mention occasionally backing into a tree (no that would NEVER happen).

Nope. Never backed into a tree. Only once this summer has a tree attacked the rear bumper on our Sov when backing into a camping spot.

Next time a tree attacks my rear bumper, it's firewood!

No reason it wouldn't work. Just make sure the mounts and supports are robust.

I need some donor parts first. I am happy that the bumper is back on the trailer for now.
