Basement plywood removal (not flooring, Al skinned)

I need to know this STAT, like yesterday. Any and all input on how to access this locker-basement area (from beneath, aint starting on interior yet) will be welcome!!!

Finishing shell-on frame assesment & rehab prep and I need to know if this piece of plywood is removable.

Looks as if it should slide forward out of steel channel easy enough - but is it really supporting the fresh water tank and will destroy it or somesuch if removed?

The plywood is about 9/8" thick. I REALLY would like to have this space open w/o disturbing the interior to finish hidden space rehab!!

Yep, that is your fresh water tank, and yes, the plywood is supporting the tank. Its not really a "basement/locker".

anyway, not that I've done this myself, but I have read the procedure in the service manual for removing. You have to disconnect the lines to the tank under the galley, and the tank monitor wires. Then slide the plywood forward, and a helper needs to be there to "catch" the tank as it falls out. (2 person job).

Yet another fork in the road to closure.

Looks like another 'come spring' detail.

Thanks Mr chuck - time to sandblast and paint...

Unless any members think I should slide it out just to peek in

i just had to replace that piece of wood due to a old tank leak, here are a few pictures and some info.

the aluminum is just attached in a few spots so that it holds up and protects the wood. the wood and aluminum. slides in and out of a set of side "Z" channels after the front "Z" channel unbolts., my front panel was rusted away.

the first picture shows the front channel taken off and a 2x4 and a bottle jack holding up the tank and cover.

we slide the cover out of the channel while putting in place jacks and cross-boards step by step.

the second picture shows the whole cover off and the two jacks that are now the only things holding the tank up.

the third picture shows the street side of the tank where the connections are made on mine, i do not know how this part differs with different models and years. in mine this connection area is also available from above too, by taking the cover off the sofa in that area.

hope this helps you figure things out.
