Banana Wrap Blues

Just wanted to make sure I was removing the banana wrap and belly pan from the U chanel correctly. I got a little worried because the aluminum feels brittle and I don't want to break this off. Also, what is the black stuff? Is there a good way to remove it?

Bobolo,

Where is the black stuff that you are showing? It looks kind of like someone sprayed on some black undercoating. Is this on the inside of your AS?

yes, the black "gunk" is on the interior. it looks to be some kind of undercoating, as you suggest and was found sprayed (zig zagged patterns) on the interior of the shell, behind the insulation and down into the u-channel all the way around.

any ideas what it is? how to get rid of it? (besides scraping and elbow grease
