Dinette and side couch remove pretty easily. Screws along back wall and a few on the floor, honestly not much holding it all together, kind of shocking, but not really.

Thanks, I think this required the most speciality cuts we've ever done.

For the bathroom I just ordered one box of costal grey vinyl floor tile.

More special order so won't be here till sometime 16th & 20th.

Finally getting around to the bathroom, with little time left before we hit the road. WE also bought a Dometic 310 Porcelain toilet in white to upgrade the bathroom. Taking a dump in style. Love the look of the tile. Going to use an aluminum step plate to separate the two.

Looks great. You need good lighting so you can read Airstream Life in there. It's called multi tasking I believe. Employers like to hear that.

I am VERY sorry this happened to you. It CAN be fixed it is just disgusting. This is my biggest concern- floor rot. Soon after I bought mine and read about the rear bumper I freaked. I tore the carpet out of the bedroom (I have a RB model) and looked all around. I tried taking the beltline off- got it halfway but the rusty screws caused me grief. There was a black sealant around my bottom behind the beltine along the half section I was able to remove. Then the next year, I tore all the carpet out of the trunk. It still had plastic on top of it! I found the black tar-like coating on the edges but no stained wood. I replaced it with the diamond stuff. That said, there are a few spots that are soft on my floor. Just outside the bathroom between the fridge and wall and just off center of the lounge area street side. I have stabbed it repeatedly with the moisture meter but nada.

After reading these forums for some time, I'm kind of glad this is the only real problem we have had with our Airstream. And it honestly felt way bigger of a challenge as a new owner than it does in hindsight after having completed the work.

But to go back on my first post, today this feels like "our Airstream" not a second hand Airstream, but ours. If that makes sense.

So sorry to hear about your floor, and so happy for you it turned out so well, and that you could do it yourself for minimal cost.
This is my first reply, hope it's not too long or inappropriate. I thought it might help some other newbies to share our story. We too just found a floor rot issue in our 19' 2007 Bambi. It apparently is not from an unsealed leak but appears to be from a very slow drip (1 drop every ~5 sec) from the filter between the fresh water tank and the water pump. Apparently the PO cleaned the filter & didn't tighten it completely, so it's been dripping for about 2 years now, at least as long as we've had it. No water ever ran out from under the dinette seat, so I didn't have anything to alert there was a problem. This is our first RV of any kind, so I didn't think the flex in the floor under the dinette was a big deal until our last trip when the floor popped when we stepped on it, and REALLY flexed. Started poking around, that's when I found the rot and the drip. Searched the Forum and had my eyes opened about the floor design issues and sealing problems. Airstream kind of lost it's luster there.
I am not that handy with tools and am 68, so really don't have a year or so to waste fixing it myself. So come July we're heading to Jackson Center with checkbook in hand. Based on my description of the problem, they say it may be $4-6K to fix, and I'm going to have them do the pressure check and seal everything as well. BUT, as you say, it's our Airstream, we love it still, and can't wait to get it back on the road.

I do have one question. Does anyone have a link to the moisture meters mentioned in this thread? It really makes me sick to think this could happen again from a hidden slow leak in a pipe, for example, so it would be great to be able to periodically check the subfloor for moisture.

Go to Amazon and search for Sonin moisture meter. Meter has two prong sharp probe on a cord. Others place moisture sensors in key areas like the water pump that alarm if moisture detected.

Sorry to read about your repair. This can happen to any trailer as they all have wood subfloors.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I truly am. But I don't see how this one is on Airstream. They deserve flack for other issues but a leak from some do it yourself'er that can't tighten a screw fitting is not their fault.

Thanks for the link to the meter, Kelvin. I'll track it down. I have a moisture sensor for my home hot water heater, may look into something like that for inaccessible areas in the trailer, like under the cabinetry in the sink area where a vibration leak may develop. And, around the water pump.
I agree with you, Scott, I didn't mean to imply Airstream was at fault. If it turns out to be just from the filter leak, which it seems to me like it is, it will definitely be user error. Once I found the drip, a slight turn of the filter cap stopped it. It's just amazing what a tiny bit of water has done over time. Expensive lesson. Thanks again for the meter info.
