$321.51
VTS
VTS-843Airstream Buck Riveting Kit
1 $239.95 $239.95VTS-19231/8" White Aluminum Rivet (Pk of 100) - Size 3
1 $5.65 $5.65VTS-19251/8" White Aluminum Rivet (Pk of 100) - Size 5

$205
Heights Lumber & Supply
Six sheets of 3/4" Marine grade Plywood at 78.99 EA plus tax
$513
I still have to buy: (all estimates)
a new water heater $330
Eastwood rust conversion and frame paint $200
Hardware for the floor $125
Battery charger/converter $250
AGM battery $250
PEX plumbing $250
repaint of the shower/vanity $200
This doesn't include the things I've already purchased like:
curb side wing window $280
Water heater control valve $135
New twin mattresses $400
New gaucho cushions $250
I have spent a bunch of what we call "Consumables" in the Army like paint stripper, polish, sealant, sand paper, abrasive disks and cleaners.
EST $200
I haven't even really started counting how much I've spent tools that I've purchased for this project. Tools are "durable" and can be used over and over if you buy quality tools and take care of them so I don't really want to count tools in the cost of the refurbishment. They do cost however. Here are some of the big ones.
Air Compressor $300
Air Hoses $75
Die Grinder $75
How much is my own labor rate? $40? $60 per hour?
Like 87MH says "Spend the big bucks. Do it right the first time!" Well, I think I'm spending the big bucks now Dennis!

Thanks Bruce! I know. It will all be worth it in the end when she's finished. It seems like a long, long row to hoe!

6 sheets of MGP? I thought the bathroom was the only thing on the agenda right now!
I've been authorized to help a day this weekend if I authorize shopping in Harker Heights.

Well you know these things always grow. I HAVE to replace the aft two sheets. I'm going to remove the twin beds and replace the aft three sheets. I just figured that I'd get all six at the same time so that the floor would match when finished. Idea from Dave) Remember my idea of the plywood with a rusty orange stain (the original color) with a clear, glossy, waterproof, epoxy finished floor? I'll be saving three sheets for the front half for next year.

Bruce,
Congrats on the Sovereign! Nice find. Please do post some pics.
We bought Abby from a guy in Austin. Where did you find the Sovereign?

Work work work
I put in a full 12 hour day working on Abby today. I got a lot of things accomplished. I got all the beds, cabinets and wardrobes from the galley bulkhead aft removed. I got all the plumbing, water heater and black tank removed. Most of the lower interior skins are removed. Tomorrow, more work! I love it!

Lance Come on now just one more 12hr day and you'll be ready for the "full monte". You're halfway there now just keep going forward and stop once you get to the wing windows. You've done the hard part, the galley and living room are easy by comparison. Can you tell I'm trying to coerce you into doing it all now. LOL.

Don't tempt me! I was almost there today! The front needs a new floor too! I have a date on the calendar I'm looking at though. I'm eating half of the elephant now. The other half later...

Now I know you Texans are famous for youre BBQ's and doing things in a large way but eating an elephant that's way over the top! LMAO. Just exactly how much BBQ sauce do you need for an elephant. LOL.
Seriously why not do it all now. You can't use the trailer with the tail end apart anyway.
