Lance That looks fantastic. Better than a new A/S.
For the A/C I had a local window and door company make up a window screen, painted it silver and attached it to the shroud with stainless screws. That way it is easily removable for servicing and cleaning if needed.
A couple of suggestions for the trim. What if you lubed the extrusion instead of the trim? Also can you place the bottom of the trim in the extrusion and then flex the trim and use a hook tool to get the top of the trim to go into the extrusion?

You're almost done. I bet by next weekend Abby is ready for the road.
P.S. I painted my tambour doors with Krylon white spray paint that I got from Wally Mart. It worked great and looks like new. I know it's a little late now seeing that you've already installed yours but just an idea.

I lubed the trim and the insert. Just wasn't going to go in. It can wait. Thanks for the tip. I'll try some other ways like the hook slider.
I should be ready for the road by Wednesday. I'll take her out for a test drive and make sure everything is working and get the cob webs shook off, so to speak! We will be going on our first camping trip since January next weekend! We're going to the First Annual Central Texas AirForums Rally in San Marcos. Can't wait. It has been a long time and a LOT of work. When I look at a picture like this from January, I know that I have really done something. I have never worked so hard on any project before. Keep in mind I have been in aircraft maintenance for 22 years now and have taken aircraft and their sub systems down to the basics, rebuilt/repaired/reassembled them and gone for the post maintenance test flight. Rebuilding an Airstream is really challenging and rewarding! I couldn't have done what I have done in five months without this forum and the help of its wonderful members like you reading this right now.

Marzboy, Thanks very much. In January when I started, I actually thought I could be done by March 15th! A little optimistic. The hardest and dirtiest part (frame cleaning) is behind you. It gets better all the time!

Hello y'all,
I got a few things done today. I went to Lowe's this morning and got some toilet flange bolts. When I got back I installed the toilet. I did a function ckeck. Not enough water. In the last four months there was someone that decided the toilet water line was a nice place to lay eggs. After I got that all cleaned out I reinstalled the toilet. Function check OK. This afternoon I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. I got the bathroom cabinet installed along with BBQing some country style ribs for the family. All in all a good day.

Hello my good friends,
I didn't get as much done today as I thought I would. It seems to be like that sometimes. I spent a good portion of the day at my children's school watching them get academic awards and sing in a talent show. I have my priorities
I did manage to do some cleaning in the galley. I should have covered everything before I started cleaning and grinding on the frame. It would have saved me a few hours of cleaning. Rust settles in the smallest cracks! I have both of the closets installed now along with the sliding door to the bath. I still have a few minor adjustments. That was a chore! A full day tomorrow and I should be all done with the interior. Just the twin beds remain. Here are a few pics.

It's been a long time coming, but you are finally there. You have done a remarkable transformation, and it's refreshing to see someone NOT put sheet flooring down. A couple false bottoms in the cabs and you won't even see those pipes!

Thanks Steve. I will put the false floor in the closet as soon as I get the ducting run for the furnace. Hasn't arrived yet. I took the picture of the pipes just to show how happy I am that my measurements for the gray tank inlets and vents were correct. The tank company putting the inlet in the wrong location was not a problem. (sigh of relief)
I'm glad so many people seem to like the floor. When I was looking at the beautiful wood in my garage back in January, I just thought it would be a shame to cover it up with vinyl. I hope it lasts a long time. If it gets ugly I can always just lay some new laminate or cork flooring over it. Do they make rusty orange colored cork?
