Ah Steve,
I've thought that for a while. But, those little holes in the floor behind the gaucho tell me I need to do the same in the front. Next thing you're going to be telling me to use some Olympic rivets!

Congrats Top! You have carried everyone through your rebuild and we have been watching your every move and you have done a great job. You have really left some great foot notes for someone to follow.

Just so you know its a great feeling to finally get to use your AS after all the hard work. As I type Im laying in the bed of our AS while Mrs S is using the shower and the doggies are sleeping in there kennel next to the couch. Im not going to say Im finished with her cause theres always things to do, but man ole man is it a great feeling to be using her.

Hope you get to use yours soon, you deserve it. Hope to see you out on the road someday.

Thanks Jav and Mr. S! I appreciate your kind words deeply.

Tonight at supper my two boys both said the can't wait to go camping. They are excited! That makes all the months of working like a mad man to get this girl ready to go worth it!

Today I finished the bumper storage compartment and attaching the bumper to the frame. I don't have any pics of it yet. I still have to finish a few other things like,

The belly pan. It might be a while before I decide I need to crawl under Abby and wrastle with a sheet of aluminum again!

The rest of the stuff doesn't really relate to the rear end separation problem that I started out to fix in January. I will post a few things on this thread in the future if it is related to the thread topic "Repairing/Replacing Floor &/or Frame". I do plan on replacing the floor in the front half of Abby when the time is right. In the mean time, all of our normal travels, camping adventures and rallies will be on my other thread

"Abby gets all the attention"

It has been a long time since I started this project and I know I'll never ever truly be finished, but it feels good to be the owner of an awesome Airstream that is ready to hit the road! I hope to see y'all on the road sometime soon.

My kids are 23 21 and 19. The 23yo is in the Coast Gaurd on the East Coast and is still trying to get her leave for our annual 4th of July camping trip. The other two have been bugging me all year about camping. Hopefully they will be able to join us if their shows arent filming. Its so nice when your kids get old enough to do what they want and they choose to be with you.
I subscribed to your thread I will be checking it. Happy Trails, hope to catch a beer and some bbq out there on the road sometime!

Thanks Mr S.

I hitched up and pulled Abby out of the back yard on Friday. She towed wonderfully! Everything seemed to go effortlessly. The brakes worked. The axles rolled smooth and true. The plumbing did its job without any problems at all. Many people looked at my work and gave praise for how the floor looked. That just feels good. All in all, I couldn't be happier with how things went this weekend. I was sad to park her next to the house this afternoon and lock her up. What a truly rewarding experience to have put some life back into a sexy girl from the seventies!

It's going to be a long trip to ABQ this Thursday.

I'm interested in the Styrofoam balls in low Earth orbit to control the amount of UV that hits the Earth's surface story. Intriguing!

Fixed an oops!

Can't seem to find the post where I drilled a hole in my new battery last January. If you remember, I was drilling out the rivets to remove the belly pan, and went a tad too deep! Anyway, I just got a new battery from Wally World today. I was trying to convince myself that I needed an AGM battery, but the $235 for an Optima, just doesn't make sense for what we do. So, for $78.78 Abby has a new battery now.

So Top, how did you wind up closing up the tanks/belly pan/bumper storage, etc?
