Well. A lot has happened in the world in these past few days. It has been a while since I have posted any progress. Since the last post I have installed the water heater completely. I also insulated most of the the interior walls. The insulation I am using is Dow Tuff-R 1" polyisocyanurate. It is the same as I used for under the floor. There is a nice slot in the stringers that the Tuff-R slid into. That gives about a 1/2" air space between the outer skin and the foil face of the Tuff-R. I have some Reflectix I'll use for the curved sections of the rear. I also used some Roxul in the areas around the wheel wells and a few areas that I couldn't access. Here are some pictures.


I also installed the Furrion 30A plug I ordered from VTS. I used the old cable. I put on a nice Cooper electrical plug on the original cord. Works great.

I have been continuing with the insulating. I finished the underfloor insulating. That wasn't much fun. Here is how it goes;

measure, crawl out from under the trailer, cut a chunk of insulation, crawl under trailer, trim, cut, cuss, screw it to the underside of the sub floor them repeat.
After that was done it was time to finish the interior insulating. It wasn't as hard as the underfloor insulating, just a tad more cutting. I can't getthe last section of insulating done until the city water inlet is installed. VTS to the rescue!

Today I worked on repairing and prepping the bathroom plastics for paint. They are in pretty good shape, but have a few cracks here and there.



I'm using 3M 4240 semi-rigid plastic repair kit to repair the cracks from behind.



The 3M product works very well but has a few shortcomings. The work time is VERY short. Like +/-15 seconds. Once you stop squeezing the goop out, the tip gets hard and you must replace it. If you squeeze too much goop out, it gets hard before you can level it out with the spatula. A fine balance is needed to make it go a long way. It is expensive too. One 300ml kit is $52. It comes with two mixing tips. A six pack of extra mixing tips is $15. The 3M squeezing gun was $48. There are decent instructions with the kit. What was helpful was the "how to" videos on youtube. I sanded, cleaned with adhesive cleaner, sprayed the adhesion promoter, waited 10 minutes for it to dry, then squirted the goop out and schmeared it smooth with a putty blade. In about 10 minutes it can be sanded. I sanded it smooth and applied another layer.

I'm happy with the results. Tomorrow I'm taking the bath components to the paint shop. Here they are all ready to go to the paint shop.

The last week has been pretty good as far as progress on Abby.

I got the plastic bath components off to the paint shop. The man says that it'll take about a week.

I got the insulation all finished in the belly. I still need to tape the seams.


I got the outer sections of the belly pan all fastened to the outriggers. The white splotch you see is a bird deposit. No, we don't have our anti gravity device operating here. It was deposited when I had the sheet laid out on the bench. Birds seem to love to poop on shiny aluminum.



I received the city water inlet from VTS on Wednesday. It came very fast as I just ordered it last Sunday. It was cheaper and faster to order it from VTS than ordering it, then driving to pick it up when it would arrive at Crestview RV in Georgetown 32 miles away. I prefer to deal with local suppliers if at all possible, but with gas at $4 per gallon, it is sometimes not the logical choice.



I finished all the interior wall insulating and re installed the interior walls. I had to replace one small strip of the interior wall under the rear hatch. The old piece was not salvageable. It had a bunch of corrosion and was also melted at one point from a plumbers torch. Some 2024 .032 worked great.
I think I'm about ready for plumbing. Here are some before and after shots.

I forgot all about the heat duct when I was planning the inlets for the gray tanks. I guess I'll have to make an adjustment to the ducting. I might just go with insulated flexible ducting.

Greta work lance. The floor looks fantastic. I have to admit when I first read about your plan for the floor I had some reservations but it is wonderful looking. The insulation job looks very similar to what I did.
It won't be long now and you'll be camping again.
I bet Abby smells a lot sweeter now with all that mess gone.
BTW when does Lorelei arrive in the lone star state?

Thanks Chris. I'm very happy with the way the floor turned out. We'll see if it stands the test of time.

Lorelei will have to remain in MN until I get Abby completely finished. Might make a trip up there this summer some time.

Well Bruce, I sure was glad we had the heater working when we were at Blanco in December. Also the heater came in handy when we were camping at Big Bend NP for New Years!
