I knew someone a long while back that told me that he had worked on the construction of the hanger at Moffet field and that it was also made of plywood.

great drawings. i did notice in your layout that in the vicinity of your wet bath, the wheelwell is in there somewhere. i'm going by my FC and my guess is it may be right where your bath is. did you account for this?

urbanfood, I think you are right about the wheel wells. I was laying in bed last night and the same thought hit me. I'm going to use the diagram I have that has the wheel well layout included. This forum serves many purposes.

Registration Resurrection

Well it looks like we will finally get the 55 Flying Cloud registered. This means continuing planning etc. In fact Saturday we will be going go get a Marvel vintage fridge for the 55. We feel lucky to have found a original fridge for our project. It' electric only. I guess they were all that way at that period of time. Somewhere on the the forum I have read of a repair kit for the older propane powered fridges. Can anyone guide me to that thread? Joe, if you are out there I just wanted to let you know that you have convincec me to redo it similar to original.
Also I've got to get busy and fix the Bambi's broken shock. DonT want to miss the upcomming season.
Howdy to all
Don

Here's one, don't know if it will help. The only one I could find.

Marvel Fridge

The Marvel fridge is home. Everything is complete. This is the unit that has the function of being a Ice box as well. There are some hooks in the upper left had side of the inside. Looks like there was some kind of cage that might have hung here. Anyone know what they were for? I will be doing a complete restoration on this unit. We are very pleased to have it for our 55 Cloud.

In full planning mode

Well we got the registration complete on the 55 Flying Cloud. We even have the licence now. So there no more excuses. I have the floor plan layed out. After some resurch I believe I know what the original floor plan was. There is a 55 on Vintage Airstream.com archives. Our trailer still had the aluminum channel strips where the walls were placed. Also the kitchen sink and stove were still in the trialer. So I am going to reconstruct the interior very close to original, "in looks". Holding tanks etc. will be added to make it a more modern trailer in use. Included here is a link to my SketchUp Blog where I have several 3d drawing of the plans so far. As always, I 'm always open for input and comments.

very nice don!

the 3d renderings give a great perspective on the interior space.

based on how the bambi looks completed, it's gonna be fun to see this one evolve...

reappear might be a better word.

cheers

2air, thanks for the positive suport. I may reconsider and turn the FC into a gas tanker. That way we might have enough fuel to make it to rallies. Then we can sleep in the back of the truck.

Fyrzowt, It's going to be great to get back at this project. I'm looking forward to doing the woodwork in the Flying Cloud.
