For a fracking shroud!!!
Thats bananas!
I think that it is an old armstrong unit. Only thing i know for sure is that the PO started it up and it blew air, it just wans't cold.

If it is, my buddy and I just removed one off of his '78 Avion. It works and the shroud is in good shape.
The Armstrong units are known to be pretty bulletproof. The capacitor is the first thing I'd check after ensuring you are getting power up there.

Would ur buddy be interested in selling it?
On a different note. Im going to end up with a lot of pieces that won't make it back into the trailer because we'll be upgrading them. Anyone here interested in them. Right off the magic chef oven will be going for sale soon. Looks brand new.

When my Armstrong went, I tried to find a way to repair it, but here in S. Florida, there wasn't a soul that would take on the job. So I swapped it out. I think that it worked better than my Dometic replacement. Initially, it seemed goofy to try and fix such an old unit, but in retrospect, I think that I should have tried harder to get it repaired.

Not to mention that it's a non-trivial job to do the swap!

Its been a few days, but slow progress has been acomplished. Mainky, put in a new Fantasric Fan unit to replace the missing fan at the front of the trailer. I have to say that going up on the roof that first time was nerve wracking, but by the end it wasn't too bad. Hardest part i thoight was going to be cutting the hole for the new fan but it turned out that takong off the old seale t is no joke!!!
Of course, right at then end i used super goof off and oh boy, itbdissolved right before my eyes. No kidding, the label said to wait.a couple.of minutes to let.it soak in, but i didn't and it worked just fine. Will be adding this to my tool box.
One place i did mess up was that when i used the sealing tape i completely forgot to peal back the film, so i'll have to go back, take it all off and put new one in. But i do like using this 3M tape.

More progress, funny enough I'm still on the roof. I figured since i was missing the cover for the middle vent i would simply but a cover. But it seems no one said them, so... to Amazon we go, purchased a new fantastic fan which will go at the rear vent. Then take the cover of the rear vent and install it on the middle.
So while I'm waiting on the fan and sealent, i went ahead and continued cleaning up all the gunk of so that i can seal everything up. Man, cleaning gunk sucks big time!!!
A quick question. Anyone have an idea of what i can use to cover up the AC. I haven't been able to buy/find a shroud for it, and it will eventually rain here soon.Click image for larger version

I found using a knife-like attachment on the multi-tool worked pretty good for cleaning hardened caulking.

Covering roof top openings temporarily (or longer) is well suited to cookie or baking sheets with sides.

Secured inside with a 2x4 and a long bolt.

Funny you should mention this. I found a blade specific for scraping. As soon as I can get back up on the roof, I will give it a go.
It finally rain this past week here in Vegas, and lo and behold, the trailer leaks. I was shocked.
No not really. Basically, if it has a window or door, it leaks, so my work is still cut out for me with trying to seal everything up.
On the plus side, this is Vegas, so rain isn't much of a problem 99% of the year

I wound up using some ceramic paint on the roof of my Airstream, maybe something like that can help you out? Here in S. Florida, we figure the leak thing out right away Also, if you can get a highly reflective white roof, it'll help with heat. I sometimes regret that polished Airstreams look so awesome, maybe those Argosy types have figured out something that I haven't.
