If it is, my buddy and I just removed one off of his '78 Avion. It works and the shroud is in good shape.
The Armstrong units are known to be pretty bulletproof. The capacitor is the first thing I'd check after ensuring you are getting power up there.

Would ur buddy be interested in selling it?
On a different note. Im going to end up with a lot of pieces that won't make it back into the trailer because we'll be upgrading them. Anyone here interested in them. Right off the magic chef oven will be going for sale soon. Looks brand new.

When my Armstrong went, I tried to find a way to repair it, but here in S. Florida, there wasn't a soul that would take on the job. So I swapped it out. I think that it worked better than my Dometic replacement. Initially, it seemed goofy to try and fix such an old unit, but in retrospect, I think that I should have tried harder to get it repaired.

Not to mention that it's a non-trivial job to do the swap!

Its been a few days, but slow progress has been acomplished. Mainky, put in a new Fantasric Fan unit to replace the missing fan at the front of the trailer. I have to say that going up on the roof that first time was nerve wracking, but by the end it wasn't too bad. Hardest part i thoight was going to be cutting the hole for the new fan but it turned out that takong off the old seale t is no joke!!!
Of course, right at then end i used super goof off and oh boy, itbdissolved right before my eyes. No kidding, the label said to wait.a couple.of minutes to let.it soak in, but i didn't and it worked just fine. Will be adding this to my tool box.
One place i did mess up was that when i used the sealing tape i completely forgot to peal back the film, so i'll have to go back, take it all off and put new one in. But i do like using this 3M tape.
