Thanks Shelly. Did I mention what a dirty job this is?
Yes it is the famous yellow treated vented wheel from Caswell used by Darkspeed.
I was chanting something. Not sure what

Thanks Rob,
I started up high, then moved down. Now I'm down low, moving up. That is a good suggestion.

I might not be able to guess the entire quote verbatim, but I'll bet I can get the gist of it.

At least it was below 90, at least outside the shop.

Crack me up, Top. Nothing like the combo of industrial dust and sweat to make a Texas summer day complete. That my clothes are soaked through is only the beginning . . lunch is still hours away.

I foresee a Cyclo or Rolite in your future.

Rainy Sundays make for a good polishing day

Today's weather was cool and rainy. A good combo for polishing. I have to say, I have a new found respect for anyone that polishes their own Airstream as well as the guy's making a living at polishing aluminum. I might be done in another 180 hours or so.

At the start of today-

I need to buy more supplies from Caswell. They seem to go fast.

DKB,
It has been the right time to polish, as far as the weather is concerned, for sure. It is kind of a therapeutic thing, polishing. Not something I'd like to do for a living, but better than sitting at a desk correcting evaluation reports and other administrative BS that I did for the last 12 or so years in the Army.

Rednax,
I think my final pass will be with a loose cotton wheel and Met-All. That seems to be in the distant future at this point.

Did I mention what a dirty job polishing is?

I'm amazed Laura allowed you into the house for that photo, I'd guess that she would send one of the boys to hose off the top few layers of crud first.

Slow progress

Hey Vernon,
Nice cammo! You'd fit right in around my shop amongst the cotton fuzz and polish dust! Speaking of arms, mine are no longer sore. Kind of a semi-permanent numbness. I think when I'm done with this polishing I may hit the arm wrestling circuit Nah! Just kidding. Having flashbacks of Sly in "Over The Top"

I started on the front corner. Whew! What a chore. Pits, scrapes, scratches, rock chips and filiform corrosion.

Here is a pic at the beginning of the polishing day

This is all the black emory bar so far. I've read a lot of polishing threads lately and I'd recommend that you find what works best for you and your trailer's skin. I'd like to reiterate the respect I have for people that shine their own trailers and the people out there making a living at polishing aluminum.
I got another box of supplies from Caswell today. I'm on my third treated airway wheel. It is slow and tiring, but I'm liking the results.

Some more progress on polishing

I tackled the fron curved panel that was replaced about ten years ago. It is a new panel with the same milled finish as the new trailers have. I think I made about six passes with the black bar and three passes with the white bar on the loose cotton wheel. It turned out pretty well. Still lots of work ahead of me to finish.

Nice cool Sunday for polishing.

It was a very nice Sunday here in central Texas. Getting a bit cooler. The high was only in the mid eighties today. I spent about four hours polishing today. Almost half done with the first cut.

Nice job there TOP. I bet it won't heat up in the sun as much. You better not stand too close to it when the sun is out.
