What to expect buying used from authorized dealer

Jan 2019
Looking at a used 2017 airstream at an authorized dealer. Price is probably 15% or $10k less on the 2017 than if I negotiated hard ie 20 off msrp for new.

If I were buying a Mercedes car the dealer would cpo it —xxx point inspection and anything identified would be fixed. Steps for example: tech told me they were well worn and shrugged it off. I think they are so wobbly that they are unsafe. What if anything can I expect from an authorized dealer? Are there any manufacturer requirements of dealers selling late model preowned? They tell me if I drive it off the lot it’s mine — no warranty; as is. I go to a dealer because they are the authority however they have every incentive to not be forthcoming on an out of warranty trailer.

Thanks in advance!

Personally I think you're always better off buying from an owner.
They're going to know everything about the unit, and they're probably going to be honest.
The dealer has no incentive to be honest. They're in it for the revenue!

Well, there are owners and then there are owners.

Most are honest
Some are ignorant and don't realize they've neglected routine maintenance
Some are flippers.
Some are outright crooks.

If you could turn back time... and find out what MSRP was 2 years ago, which was probably 15% lower than 2019, then take 20% off that for 2 year old best deal price... my my I'd say the dealer has a very large set... I'd check ebays completed listings for a similar size and model, then IF you want an "as is" deal make a fact based offer. Or list the details about the unit here and ask members what is reasonable.

classic steps are wobblier than steel steps... if steel steps wobble one cause might be floor rot. Or just a few loose screws.
