Question Vin Model Year and Date of MFR

According to the Airstream's http://www.airstream.com/wp-content/...-post-1980.pdf own Vin decoding PDF, my vin to an Airstream I'm looking at should be a 2007. But it's listed as a 2006 and possibly titled as a 2006. Date of MFR is 12/06.

Which is it?

Could be titled incorrectly?

RV's don't necessarily follow model years like a car does. A build date of 12/06 would lead one to believe it is a 2007. Some states will title a travel trailer by the date sold, others by the manufacturer's model year and yet others by the build date. In the grand scheme of things one year shouldn't really matter much.

Great, thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that some states might title things differently.

Airstream Model Year changeover is in mid May. Anything built after mid May 2006 is a 2007 model.

Airstream used to follow automotive industry practices, and start the next model year on July1.
That seems to be more and more going away, and we got a handful of SOB trailers in March of this year as 2015 models.
If you really want to know what year a particular trailer is supposed to be, the tenth digit in the VIN is the year.

Well the vin says it's a 2007 then.

My 84 Sovereign was built 9-1-83 per the data plate, and is titled as an 84. VIN says it's an 84. In fact, Airstream doesn't even list a Sovereign model for 83.

Yeah I called the owner, he double checked the title, it's titled as a 2007. He just listed it incorrectly.
