The infamous dealer checklist! Precious Find!!

I told a few of you that I had seen some paperwork in my Airstream packet that I've never seen before. Many have alluded to it, but most have never seen it. It has remained to this day somewhat of an anomaly and certainly as rare as a working relax awning.

I too could not believe my eyes when I opened my Airstream grey suitcase packets and it slowly fell to the floor of my new Classic. Could it be? Is it real?

I'll let you judge for yourself. It is a rare and precious find! So precious, so precious . . .

My cynical mind notes that the papers are totally blank...like they have not been used to check anything. You have a totally virgin copy of a legendary document. Preserve it most carefully. (Cynical mode off)

Arn't you supposed to fill it out and send it in.😂

Brought a smile to my mug also...😏

It would be more infamous had it been initialed by an actual person.👍

Ahhhh! But who would that person be? The informative Airstream dealer Docent? The Airstream salesperson extraordinaire? Hmmmm, or maybe the humble inner self who uncovers all Airstream secret by oneself.

How about a nice high-resolution scan of each page and then post on the forums so we can all gaze in awe at the grail?

It is a nice form, I found mine a few days after delivery, no fingerprints on it.
Like any other tool, if it stays in the toolbox, it.....?

What the AS buying experience should be

Turning on the cynical mode here, what would a check-in-the-box mean?
a. That's interesting?
b. Wonder what this means?
c. Wasn't the factory supposed to do this?
d. Schedule this for first return service visit?
e. Have customer take trailer to Ohio to get completed?
...

For our previously-owned Infiniti QX80 tow vehicle, our local dealer gave us what they called the dealer delivery checklist. They scheduled a 2 hour, one-on-one delivery introduction to go over the checklist, go through all the vehicle's controls, set up user specific functions, and answer any questions.

Infiniti of Austin then holds a monthly evening meeting with all new vehicle owners. The Service Manager introduced the service reps, goes over the common service requirements, took us on a tour of the shop, explained the express service, helped us schedule our initial service, and had a vehicle specialist with our vehicle spend time answering any new questions we have. They fed us dinner, and held a raffle for Amazon gift cards. We got a $100 prize.

We were able to purchase an Infiniti (not third party) EIGHT year bumper-to-bumper warranty extension.

With each service, we get a YouTube video showing the inspection, results of any work they perform, readout from the diagnostics computer, and the expected detailed service detail invoice. We also get a loaner vehicle, which they will drive to you to when they pick up the vehicle, if within a certain distance from the dealer.

Wonder when Airstream dealers will implement such a buying, service, and extended warranty experience - including a video taken during the service?

For one day work, such as when we had the heat pump replaced, should I be surprised that our AS service provider doesn't offer a large, plush waiting area with high speed Internet service and free fresh pastries, snacks, coffee, espresso drinks, and iced tea?

I guess expecting a loaner trailer when service takes 3-weeks, as we experienced, is too much to ask.

Must have won the lottery

Recently bought 2018 AS Interstate GT from Winnebago dealer in Kerrvile, TX who acquired it from a Oklahoma original purchaser. Low miles, immaculate condition with everything that was was supposed to be there when new was still there: all manuals, stickers and alas -- the checklist as shown in the image in the first post to this thread, complete with penciled in check marks in each box, the original owner's name, delievery/check date. No dealer name however.

So I take it I have something more rare that a lover letter from George Washington to a previously unknown mistress or something. Am I rich now? Is this worth more than my AS? Do I need to get an auction house to handle this?

I'm shocked, shocked that there was gambling going on here! Oh, that is a different master of cynicism, but I'm still trying to elevate myself to that level. While rounding up the usual suspects (most any Airstream dealer), contemplate this...

Years ago, Airstream paid the dealer to do a final checkout—I think it was more than $200. I don't know if they still do, but it was money wasted in most cases. When we did the walkthrough, we still had questions to go over when it was finished and the guy who did it had to go ask permission to spend more time with us. He got permission, but we discovered many things wrong when we took it home. Among other things, a side window was not secured properly (screws hadn't be tighten enough on the latches) and blew out along I-70. That was a shock and then they (dealer and then Airstream) gave me a hard time about replacing it and shipping it to me. Airstream did cover it after some prodding and maybe a mild threat or two. Windows must not be on the checklist.

That was put in the packet for the new owner to use. At best the dealer should have walked the new-folk through the information. The dealer check list would be much different than a glossy pamphlet.

Yes, true. Dealer checklist typically is an extended hand, . . . that takes your money transfer, and a "Yep, you're sure going to love it".

That form is NOT to be filled out by the dealer or any of their agents or employees.
That form is to be filled out, notes taken, and brief instructions written on them by the end consumer, during the walk-through. If you were provided this form at any time before the walk-through began, it is nobody's fault but your own if it is blank.

Reading the form it seems pretty obvious it is meant for the customer to fill out as they go through delivery with the dealer. Words on the first page such as “Congratulations on your new Airstream...”. Am I missing something?

No, the customer filling it out is what is supposed to happen.

I believe I received something similar last year with my new baby. I believe it had writing on it to indicate what had been done... It's been a while since I looked at it... huuummm... think I'll look 👀 at it the next time I'm in the trailer to see what it covers. 🤔🤭
